CLAYNOTOPIA
I made some clay dinosaurs in 3D and now there's this whole thing with 20k people who are way too into it.
It started as a side project
I was working on a commercial animation project when I started sketching these chunky little dinosaurs during breaks. Something about their simple, clay-like appearance felt different from the usual character work I was doing.
The Process
I spent way more time than I should have perfecting the clay texture and material shading. What started as a quick test became hours of refining the look.
First Share
When I posted one online, the response was much stronger than I expected. People connected with these characters in a way that surprised me.
I kept developing them, and each iteration felt more distinct. They weren't just illustrations anymore – they had become characters with their own visual language and appeal.

The gang's all here
They each developed weird personalities. I don't make the rules anymore, they do.

Trice
The tanks of the clay world. These guys have an attitude to match.

Ankylo
Walking fortress with a club for a tail. They hit hard and ask questions later.

Raptor
Fast, smart, and they hunt in packs. Basically the velociraptors you were scared of as a kid.

Bronto
The gentle giants. Every step they take makes flowers grow (seriously).

Stego
Living solar panels with attitude. Those back plates aren't just for show.

Rex
The big boss. When a Rex roars, everyone listens—even mountains.

Dactyl
The sky dancers. They paint clouds with clay dust and probably know weather secrets.

Digital Home
The Claynos found their perfect habitat on Solana. Each one unique, each one with its own story written by the community that adopted them.
Living Stories
Animated shorts, community-driven narratives, and collaborative art. The characters have taken on lives of their own, far beyond my original sketches.
Real Community
20,000+ creative minds building together. Games, art, stories, and friendships that extend far beyond the digital realm.
When you make something people connect with, they take it places you never imagined. I've learned to just enjoy the ride.
Turns out clay dinosaurs are really good at bringing people together. Who would've thought?
Still amazed people care about my weird clay creatures 🦕
